Alert based on MATH query is failing with Bad request #25

When I create a simple query like this
MATH name="DIFF" expr="$0+100" keep="$0,$1"
and when I create an alert based on this query in Grafana and then click "Test Rule" I get error "request handler error: failed to query data: InfluxDB returned error status: 400 Bad Request"
